Project Proposal :
I want to make our playground area in my neighborhood a place where it feels loved and colorful. My plan is to make this a place that my community can come together and enjoy. We have a volleyball court, a basketball court, a playground with swings, and a little free library (which I made in 2020 per COVID). I want to add more interactive details for kids, as this will be beneficial for the summer when kids are out of school. My plan would be to add garden beds, that way we can host community gatherings and garden parties for kids during the summer. These could be made from recycled tires, or just your average wooden beds. I'd love to add games for the kids. We have a sandbox but it looks very bland. I'd propose adding a "toy" wall, with buckets, shovels, and toy trucks that I'd get through donations or goodwill. I'd love to add a hopscotch area with concrete slabs in bright colors for the girls and boys, but also I'd love to add brick "roads" for kids to play with their cars. I also would like to add some more older games. Like painting a chess board on the picnic tables. Then make a wooden tic-tac-toe to attach to the fence. All the materials I'd get through donations and toys would be through goodwill or other donations. I'd work with the board in my neighborhood to plan and organize everything. I really want to make my neighborhood a place that kids love to enjoy. It is necessary for our community to help our neighborhood thrive together. The difficulties will approval and then definitely be funding and donations, as without that there wouldn't be a project. My steps will be first talking with the board in my neighborhood about my proposal. Then setting up funds and donations with our community to gather materials and supplies to get this project rolling. A realistic timeline will be a couple of months, so we can gather, plan, and set up events for the project. Next on the agenda is to hear back from the board to see what we can move forward with.
