Welcome to Amelia's C.A.S. Project
As an International Baccalaureate (IB) student we have the challenge of becoming a well rounded student. Not only thriving in our academics but also in other activities outside of school. C.A.S. Stands for Creativity, Activity, and Service. Here we are showing what kind of impact we have on our community, ourselves, and the world around us. To keep up with our progress here's what's up!
Welcome! It's nice to meet you!
Hi! I'm Amelia Feery and I attend South Forsyth High School. I enjoy reading in my spare time, building Legos, engaging in creative activities like painting, sculpting and anything that sparks my creative flame. I'm trained in marital arts, I have an eye for photography, I swim and I work with kids on weekends, I speak German and have been learning for the past 10 years. A skill I'd like to improve on is time-management. I'm currently a Girl Scout and have been since 2nd grade, this improves my social skills, new connections, new learning approaches and allows me to help the community even more. I'd like to get involved in a more music side to my community, and like to start drumming. I'm currently involved in my school's German club, National Art Honors Society, and I serve at my local church.
A time where I helped someone was when I helped my younger brother with his math. Math can be complicated for the both of us however when he gets stuck on his Algebra work, we sit down I show him how it goes, then talk through it with him. Ask him what he gets and doesn't get. I have a very supportive community, and my friends and family help me a lot when I have a lot on my plate. For instance when I have tough mental days I can always go to my mum and talk things over with her. We make a plan on how to achieve my goals and it helps me when I get stressed out a lot.
I'm passionate about making this world a not so scary place for a least a couple of people. As a person suffering from anxiety it's a common issue I see about mental health stereotypes types being thrown around, and it's wrong. As the next generation we should take a step and shine some lights on the dark times some of us are going through. It shouldn't be a bad thing or a negative outlook we get from society. Mental health isn't a bad thing. I love dogs as well, and have had a deep love for them at a young age. Fostering and helping out at the shelter is something that is in my near future for sure! Another thing more in the recent issues is my concern for gun violence. Family and friends shouldn't have to go through the horrors of school shootings. There needs to be a change to this country and its ways. It can't just be talk anymore there needs to be a plan of action.
Honestly the thing I want to learn more about is myself, yes it does sound very "I'm all about me" but no. Taking a different approach to learn more about how better to take care of my body, understanding my deep core emotions, focusing on my mental health and take care on my body more.
With C.A.S it's giving me the excuse to try new things, like riding my bike more, trying to create new items like a book-nook for my room, and trying out the drums before these two years are up.
Creativity
Engaging in artistic activities. Involving creative thinking, getting our hands dirty in paint and using our brains to become the next Leonardo Da Vinci.
My favorite moments!!!
Activity
Physical excursion that makes you heart pumping and your body sweating! Showing that we don't stay cooped up studying all day, but that we are contributing to a healthy lifestyle outside of the classroom.
Service
Unpaid and voluntary exchange to help better our community! Showing up to help those who need it. Taking time to show the community you care and help where they are needed most!
